Geology of potassium feldspar |
K-par range of Potash Feldspars from our various geological mineral deposits is natural alumino silicates. They are enriched with a variety of physical and chemical properties. Their fusibility /purity make them specially suitable constituents for different ceramic and industrial applications. |
|
Applications |
Potash feldspar or potassium feldspar find applications as low cost fluxing agent in production of ceramic items i.e. compounding of tiles, sanitary wares, tableware’s, insulators and glazes. Potassium feldspar / Potash feldspar in glass-production, where it supplies the aluminum which enhances the strength / transparency of hollow glass / flat glass and glass wool.
Potash feldspar or Potassium feldspar is used as filler in paints, plasters, insulation etc.
Potash feldspar popularly know as potassium feldspar offers a range of properties to assist in the design of tableware items. With its high K2O, low Iron (Fe2O3) & Titania(TiO2) contents and due to stringent process controls, K-Par range of Potassium feldspar products assure the tableware markets of desired level of fusibility confirming to specified constraints, the required level of whiteness and excellent base for colouring. |
|
Particle size, packaging & deliveries |
Potash feldspar powders are available in 200,250,300,325 meshes & in .20 and 10 um particles
Potassium Feldspar is packed in new/used HDPE/PP laminated / unlaminated 50 kg bags
For exports, packaging in 50kg laminated bags duly palletized, shrink wrapped is offered in general for feldspar. FIBC packaging is also available.

Applications, usage and industries served |
Principally alkali and alumina contents of feldspar makes it interesting mineral Feldspar is available in Feldspathic sand, Pegmatite and pure Feldspar forms. Further distinction can be made between sodium, potassium and mixed feldspars, depending on the type of alkali they contain. Feldspars play an important role as fluxing agents in ceramics and glass applications, and also are used as functional fillers in the paint, plastic, rubber and adhesive industries.
Sodium feldspar, Potassium feldspar for Glass: Feldspar acts as a fluxing agent, reducing the melting temperature of quartz and helping to control the viscosity of glass. The alkali content in feldspar acts as flux, lowering the glass batch melting temperature and thus reducing production costs.
Potash, Sodium Feldspar for Ceramics:. Feldspar does not have a strict melting point, since it melts gradually over a range of temperatures. This greatly facilitates the melting of quartz and clays and, through appropriate mixing, allows modulations of this important step of ceramic making. Feldspars are used as fluxing agents to form a glassy phase at low temperatures and as a source of alkalis and alumina in glazes. They improve the strength, toughness, and durability of the ceramic body, and cement the crystalline phase of other ingredients, softening, melting and wetting other batch constituents. Potash Feldspar is treated a important ingredient of high tension insulators.
Potash and Sodium feldspar fillers are also are used as fillers and extenders in applications such as paints, plastics and rubber. Beneficial properties of feldspars include good dispensability, high chemical inertness, stable pH, high resistance to abrasion, low viscosity at high filler loading, interesting refractive index and resistance to frosting. The products used in such applications are generally fine-milled grades.
Enamel frits and glazes: Feldspar assists the enamel composition, assuring the absence of defects and the neatness of the end product: e.g. enamel frits, ceramic glazes, ceramic tile glazes, sanitary ware, tableware, electrical porcelain and giftware.
Potash feldspar find applications in paint, mild abrasives, urethane, welding electrodes (production of steel), latex foam, the welding rod coating, & road aggregate.
Sodium Feldspar, Potash Feldspar for ceramic flooring sector, feldspar is the main constituent in the body composition. It is used as a flux, lowering the vitrifying temperature of a ceramic body during firing and forming a glassy phase. Surface tension pulls the remaining solid particles together, giving a densification of the ceramic body. With rising temperatures the alkalis become more active and first dissolve the clay particles and then the free silica.
Potash feldspar, Sodium Feldspar for Tableware, Potash feldspar gives a good fusibility for a product without defects.
Potash Feldspar for sanitary ware: The use of potassium feldspar within vitreous ceramic bodies facilitates the optimization process. |
