| Applications of Yttrium Oxide |
| Yttrium Oxide or Yttria, high purity Yttrium Oxide is important for tri-bands Rare Earth phosphors which attributes red colour in colour TV picture tubes & computer tubes. In optical industry Yttrium Oxide is used to impart yttrium-iron-garnets, which are very effective microwave filters. Y2O3 is used to make the high temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O7, known as "1-2-3" to indicate the ratio of the metal constituents. Y2O3 ceramics is treated as prospective solid-state laser material. In combination with zirconia Yttria is used to produce YSZ, TZP, PSZ, FSZ zirconium powders for advance ceramic components, refractory and wear resistant grinding media production.
